This article explains how our moderation process works, what gets reviewed, and how we notify users.

Moderation is the process of reviewing content on Matchouse to ensure it meets our platform standards, complies with UK law, and maintains community trust. It helps us prevent:

  • Spam or fake listings

  • Misleading or inappropriate information

  • Low-quality or incomplete profiles

  • Offensive or irrelevant reviews

  • Policy violations or scams


2. ✨ What Content Is Reviewed?

The moderation system applies to several types of content:

3. 🧠 How Moderation Works on Matchouse

We use a blend of automation and human review:

Automated Filters

Our system automatically flags:

  • Listings with missing info (e.g. no price, poor images)

  • Overuse of keywords or links

  • Suspicious activity (e.g. duplicate accounts, copy-paste spam)

  • AI-generated content without proper context

Manual Review

Our team reviews content:

  • Flagged by users (via report tools)

  • Selected for quality checks

  • With edits that significantly change the original submission

5. 📨 How Will I Know If My Content Was Reviewed?

If your content is moderated, you’ll receive:

  • An in-app notification

  • An email with the moderation result

  • Instructions (if changes are needed)

📬 Example:

“Your property listing was reviewed. To activate it, please add at least one photo and a valid rental amount.”


6. ✅ What Happens After Approval?

Once approved:

  • Listings and offers go live and become visible to matched users

  • Profiles gain full access to messaging and search visibility

  • Reviews are posted publicly with attribution to the reviewer

🎯 Verified or completed profiles receive better visibility in smart matching and search results.


7. ❌ What If My Content Is Rejected?

We’ll tell you why, and you can:

  • Edit the content and resubmit

  • Contact support via live chat for clarification

Common rejection reasons:

  • Missing or false information

  • Poor-quality or irrelevant images

  • Inappropriate or vague service offers

  • Duplicate or fake reviews

Scenario 1: Property Listing Rejected
A landlord lists a 2-bed flat in Manchester but doesn’t upload photos or input rent.
🔍 System flags the listing → Review triggered
❌ Moderation team pauses the listing
📬 Notification sent: “Please add images and rental price to proceed.”
✅ Once edited, the listing goes live within 30–60 minutes.

Scenario 2: Suspicious Review
A buyer leaves a 1-star review for a service they didn’t hire.
🔍 Review flagged by the system and the service pro
👨‍💻 Manual review confirms it's unrelated
❌ Review removed; both parties notified


9. 🧾 Review Moderation Criteria

Reviews must be:

  • Based on real interactions

  • Respectful and relevant

  • Free of offensive, threatening, or hateful language
