Set Your Lead Preferences and Service Areas
Choose which services, customer needs and locations should be used for your Matchouse lead alerts.
Last updated About 2 hours ago
Lead preferences help Matchouse show your professional or business account the opportunities that are most relevant to the work you want. You choose the services, qualifying answers and locations. Keeping these details accurate can reduce unsuitable alerts and make it easier to focus on useful leads.
This guide is for Service Professionals and Professional Businesses.
Add the services you want leads for
Open Lead settings, then use the Services section to choose the work you want to hear about.
- Select Add services.
- Search for and choose the relevant service.
- Review any related service suggestions.
- Add or edit the service keywords if the option is shown.
- Save your changes.
Choose services you genuinely provide. Broad or unrelated selections can create less useful matches and may make it harder to respond consistently.
Use exclusions to filter customer needs
Some services include questions that customers answer when posting a job. Exclusion settings let you leave out answers that do not fit your work.
For example, if you only take a certain type of project, exclude the answer options you do not support. Matchouse can then use the customer's submitted details to avoid alerting you about those requests.
Review exclusions whenever your services change. An old exclusion may hide work that has become relevant to your business.
Add locations and travel radius
Use the Locations section to describe where you want to find customers.
- Add an address or area.
- Choose the radius in miles.
- If needed, connect that location rule to specific services.
- Save the location.
When no individual services are assigned to a location, the location applies to all services in your lead settings. Service-specific locations are useful when your travel range differs by job type.
Add more than one area only when you can realistically serve each location. Accurate travel information helps protect your response time and customer experience.
How Matchouse uses these settings
Matchouse uses the customer's job details together with your selected services, relevant answers and location rules to identify potentially suitable opportunities. Automated systems may assist with categorisation and relevance, but the private matching logic and weighting are not published.
No setting guarantees a lead or a particular position. Availability depends on customer demand and the fit between the request and the information supplied by participating professionals.
Improve the quality of your opportunities
- Keep your public services consistent with your lead settings.
- Use specific, accurate service keywords.
- Remove services you no longer provide.
- Set a realistic travel radius.
- Review service exclusions after changing your offer.
- Keep notifications enabled for the roles and opportunity types you manage.
- Respond promptly when a request is relevant.
Opening a lead
You can review the summary and price before opening an eligible lead. An active Pro plan includes 3 service lead opens each month, and an active Business plan includes 5. Credits can be used for additional opens or when no monthly allowance is active.
Opening a lead gives you the contact details and response tools shown for that opportunity. It does not guarantee that the customer will choose you, so read the request carefully before opening it.
Troubleshooting
I am receiving irrelevant alerts
Review the selected service, keywords, excluded answers, location and radius. Remove broad terms that do not describe work you take on.
I am receiving very few alerts
Check that at least one service and one realistic service area are active. Make sure your notification preferences allow lead alerts. Low local demand can also affect the number of opportunities.
A service is not available to select
Check whether the service needs to be added to your public professional or business profile first. Use the closest accurate service rather than an unrelated category.
