Verify Your Identity on Matchouse

Learn how Matchouse identity verification works, what you need, how one check covers your roles and what each status means.

Last updated About 1 month ago

Identity verification helps people understand that a Matchouse profile is connected to a real person. Matchouse uses Stripe Identity for the document and selfie checks shown in the verification flow.

Verification can strengthen trust, but it does not guarantee service quality, search placement, enquiries, bookings or positive reviews.

Before you start

You normally need:

  • A supported photo identity document
  • A phone or computer with a working camera
  • Good lighting and a stable internet connection
  • Details that match the identity document

The in-app flow is designed to take about two minutes when the document and images can be accepted immediately. Additional checks or a request for new information can take longer.

Start identity verification

  1. Open your profile or account verification area.
  2. Select the identity verification option.
  3. Review the price and instructions shown.
  4. Continue to Stripe Identity.
  5. Photograph the requested document and complete the face check.
  6. Return to Matchouse and review the status.

The price may be shown as a limited launch price. Always use the amount displayed before payment rather than relying on an older Help Centre figure.

How your information is handled

The document check is completed through Stripe Identity. Matchouse states in the verification flow that identity documents do not pass through Matchouse servers.

Follow the Stripe instructions carefully and review the privacy information shown before continuing. Do not send identity documents through Matchouse chat or to another user.

One check can cover your Matchouse roles

Identity verification is linked to the person, not only to the screen where the check was started. One successful check can apply across your Matchouse roles and the businesses you own, where the product supports that relationship.

Team members may need their own verification because each check represents an individual person.

Understand the verification status

Your status may show:

  • Not started or unpaid: the verification has not been purchased or submitted.
  • Processing: Stripe is reviewing the submitted information.
  • Requires input: more information or a new image is needed.
  • Verified: the check completed successfully and the verified status can be shown where supported.
  • Cancelled: the attempt did not continue to completion.
  • Expired: the verification is no longer current, often because the identity document expired.

Follow the action shown in Matchouse if a status requires input. Starting repeated new checks can make it harder to understand which attempt is active.

Verification expiry and renewal

Verification can expire with the identity document used for the check. Matchouse may show a warning about 30 days before expiry. Complete a new verification when prompted to keep the status current.

Why verification helps

A verified status gives visitors an additional piece of identity information when they evaluate a profile, service or business. It can be especially useful for profiles that accept bookings, respond to customer jobs, work in a customer's property or represent a business.

Customers should still review the profile, services, reviews, prices and booking details before making a decision.

Troubleshooting

The document is not accepted

Check that the document type is supported, all edges are visible, the image is clear and there is no glare. Make sure the document is current and the details are readable.

The face check will not complete

Allow camera access, move to brighter even lighting and follow the on-screen position instructions. Try another supported device if the camera is not working reliably.

The status says requires input

Open the verification card and follow the requested action. Stripe may need a clearer image or additional information.

My verification expired

Start a new check with a current supported document. An expired status does not renew automatically.
